City Council approved moving forward with the planning for bicycle infrastructure pilot projects.  Each of the four proposed pilot projects will  undergo an extensive evaluation, design, and public participation process prior to review by City Council for potential approval for construction.   Each of the four pilot projects is in the City Center area (downtown and surrounding historic neighborhoods) and is focused on creating connections within the context of the City’s existing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.  To view the City Council presentation on the pilot projects please visit the City’s YouTube Channel at:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-Qo-k4PpXWo4IJQah6_Kqw

Bicycle Meeting Collage

On the morning of June 9th ninety-seven (97) concerned members of our community braved the rain, and actively participated in a City Council Workshop regarding the City’s Bicycle Infrastructure proposal.  This proposal was developed over the course of the past year by City Staff with the active participation of TEAM Punta Gorda and based on public input garnered before during and after several presentations of the proposal at various City Council meetings.   Staff will prepare a summation of the workshop and continuing public comment on the bicycle infrastructure proposal to be presented to City Council in September.  If you have questions or comments regarding the bicycle infrastructure proposal please contact the City’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator by phone at  (941) 575-3335 or email at maustin@pgorda.us
