The Land Development Regulations (LDRs) provide the requirements for developing and using private property within the city of Punta Gorda. Given downtown's (referred to in the LDRs as the Traditional Punta Gorda district) civic, cultural, and economic importance, the LDRs were crafted to protect culturally and ecologically essential resources and preserve historic structures and streetscapes. These goals are achieved by enabling infill development and enhancing the area's existing positive attributes through a form-based code. Outside of the Traditional Punta Gorda (TPG) district, the City uses conventional zoning and overlays. Currently, the TPG and conventional zoning districts are shown in separate maps. The LDRs are found in Chapter 26 of the City's Code of Ordinances. The City's LDR's were addressed at the below meetings, recordings of which can be found on the City's website under the Government tab, then the Meetings and Videos tab.
