Dear Residents,

This is to inform you about a new U.S. EPA requirement under the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). This rule mandates that all water systems, including the City of Punta Gorda's, provide details on service line materials connected to customer properties. This proactive measure underscores the City's dedication to public health and safety and is not a response to any current water quality concerns.

Out of Punta Gorda’s 14,153 water service connections, we have already identified 8,545 lines as non-lead through existing records and knowledge. The remaining 5,608 connections will be visually inspected by City employees to determine their composition.

If your service line material is unknown, you will receive a notification letter informing you of this. If you do not receive such a letter, you can rest assured that your line has been identified as a non-lead service line.

Please know that this is just the beginning of our compliance with the LCRR, and we will continue to keep you updated. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue working to meet these new requirements to further protect our community’s health and well-being.

The City of Punta Gorda Utilities Department provides water and sewer service to customers both inside and outside the City Limits within the Utility Service Area. The department consists of six divisions: Utilities Administration, Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, Wastewater Collections and Fleet. Each division requires specialized skills & certification to assist in the operation and maintenance of all water and sewer transmission to provide quality service to our utility customers.
