Urban Design Division

Welcome to the Punta Gorda Urban Design Division. We hope you will find this site to be a useful introduction to our office, the many services we provide, the land development process and the opportunities for citizen involvement in local development actions. The Division is actively planning a community of the 21st Century using traditional town planning principles to promote the high quality of life our residents have come to expect.

Additionally, we are dedicated to preserving Punta Gorda's essence as a small town. New development must be walkable, sustainable, and designed to enhance the life of the community. Open space must be preserved for future generations, housing must be available for all income levels, and neighborhoods must be connected via streets, landscaped entryways, and pedestrian paths.

The Division will always strive to serve the community in a knowledgeable and professional manner in concert with our vision:

To be a model-planning division composed of responsive staff that provide superior planning and technical services and work cooperatively with decision-makers, citizens and other agencies to continuously improve development quality and the environment.
